Custom Work

Pricing & ordering

What a made-to-order chair or turned piece costs, how long it takes, and how the process works.

How It Works

Made to order, one at a time

Nothing leaves the shop off a shelf. A rocking chair and a turned bowl are both built after you order them, one at a time, by hand. What differs is how each is priced.

Rocking Chairs

A set starting price

As each chair is made to order, it typically takes two to four weeks to complete, longer if there are other chairs already in production or if a requested wood isn't readily available.

Wood prices fluctuate, so please get in touch for current pricing. Figured woods run higher than easily obtainable species like maple and cherry, depending on availability and market conditions.

Woodturning & Other Projects

Priced per piece

Bowls, boxes, and other turned pieces don't follow a set starting price the way chairs do. Each one is priced individually based on the wood, size, and time involved. The same goes for one-off commissions and other custom projects outside the usual rocking chair work.

Why It Costs What It Costs

Real materials, real time, no shortcuts

Every chair is built by hand, one at a time, from real hardwoods chosen for grain and character, not the fastest or cheapest option available. Curious how that fits the shop's broader philosophy? Read more about my approach to the craft.
